Summary: Amazed that anyone could find fault with this 2007-11-30
Comment: I had to wait months to buy my second Citromatic, because it was always sold out at every vendor where I live! (no other juicer was ever sold out). I never once considered buying any other appliance. If you want to juice oranges, this is simply the perfect machine. Slice the orange, whack one half on top, press down, and you're juicing. When you're done, grab the only two plastic pieces off the top, rinse them quickly under the faucet, and it's clean. Really, what more do you need? It is a classic--it belongs in a museum of industrial design. It's simplicity and ease of use are amazing. Now, ok, apparently some people (the other reviewers) wish it were taller. Never bothered me, since I drink out of short juice glasses. Others say it gets clogged up. Never happened to me, in years of daily juicing. I'm not saying these observations aren't valid; I'm just saying that I never noticed a single flaw with this machine. To me, it is so good at doing what I want it to do that it fills me with admiration.

Comment: If you want fresh juice this is the only way to prepare it. Of course you have to be a bit lazy and not want the hassle of hand squeezing fast and the clean up is no problem. Recommend this to all.

Summary: Easy as pie 2007-01-11
Comment: this citrus juicer is a life saver if you, like me, have a little trouble getting the juice out of lemons and limes. Since it does require cleanup, I use it whenever I have 1/4 c or more to juice -- it not only makes the job easier, but gets all of the juice, and strains out the seeds.

Summary: Noisy, not very powerful, and doesn't strain very well... 2006-12-11
Comment: I have had this juicer for a number of years, and frankly there are much better choices out there.
First, it's loud. Not something you want to use in the morning when there are still people sleeping. If you push down too hard while squeezing, it makes a MUCH louder annoying noise. (That's not hard to do) So it could use more power.
Second, I don't like a lot of pulp in my juice. This doesn't filter it very well. I have to use a separate strainer.
Third, the juice pours into a separate container you supply, and the spout is fairly low. SO if you making juice for several people you have to choose a small container to fill and keep pouring it into something else. (I tend to stack it on top of several thick cutting boards.
Sometimes the spout also gets clogged easily with pulp, and you need to stop and clean it all out before continuing.

Summary: excellent juicer 2006-07-05
Comment: I have used one daily for the past 5 years.
In my opinion, the lack of autoreverse is a blessing. In my past experience with all sort of auto-reversing juicers, their mechanical parts are weak and they start falling apart in one year or less.
The motor is strong enough for large grapefruit juicing. Since I like some pulp in the juice, I had to remove every other tooth from the bottom piece so that the pulp flows freely.
Yesterday though, it finally gave up. The first gear, connecting the motor shaft to the spinner, got a few teeth stripped. I am so relieved that this model is still available! I'm ordering a new one right now, so all is good.
If you're looking for a citrus juicer, get this one. Very solid construction, lasts long and does the job very well.
Update August 2006: Couldn't find a new one. However, I contacted my very local Braun service center and ordered the spur gear that failed. It took one week to get the part (I bought 4 so I'll never have to give up on this juicer) and now it works perfectly again.
