Juiceman JM1000M Juiceman Express Junior Silver Metallic Juice Extractor and Food Processor

This juicer is easy to use, easy to clean up (almost every part is dishwasher safe), and packs a punch. While it's not some giant monster unit that will take over your entire counter, it's still an appliance- around somewhere in between the size of a blender and food processor.

My husband and I just took out of the box (it was mostly assembled in the box- it comes with the base plus about four additional parts that snap into place), quickly cleaned the machine, plugged it in, and away we went.

We threw in a handful of grapes, a whole apple, four carrots, two pieces of celery, and a small handful of spinach (what we had in the fridge at the moment). Please consider that I've never used a juicer before, so this is NOT a comparison between this product and others. It's probably more useful to those who are new to juicing.

First point: The juicer does a good job. It makes juice and is relatively problem free. As someone new to juicing, the cost and level of work involved was a bit of a surprise to me. Having said that:

PROS
*Seems solidly constructed
*Works as advertised
*Doubles as a food processor, but we didn't try that functionality

CONS
*Juice spout is diagonal instead of directed downward, so some juice "spray" can miss your receptacle
*It's a lot of effort and requires a lot of cleaning

If you grow your own fruits and vegetables and enjoy juice, then a juicer like this may well be a good investment. But be prepared to put some effort into the process!

I had never owned a juicer before getting the Juiceman Express Junior, and I wondered if it would be novice friendly. I am happy to report that it is *very* easy to use. After unpacking all of the parts and washing them, I followed the instructions in the manual to put it together in "juicing" mode. One part of the design that I like is the use of arrows on the parts that come off along with unlocked and locked pictures to guide the user in assembly.

Making fresh juice is an absolute snap. One of the things I wanted to try was apple juice from my preferred variety of apples - Braeburn. The apples did require minimal prep as the large apple was too big for the chute. I had to quarter them in order for them to fit. That was the extent of the prep.
