Product Description
KitchenAid KJE500WH Dual function: Citrus press for oranges, grapefruits, etc. and juice extractor for carrots, apples, etc. Citrus juicer has 2 cones, stainless steel extractor basket, low speed extraction creates less foam. Heavy-duty power base, all parts except the base are dishwasher safe. Includes cleaning spatula. 1-Year Hassle-Free Replacement Warranty. Amazon.com Review
Juice yourself a glass of carrots or pour fresh OJ for a brunch crowd with this topnotch KitchenAid juicer/citrus press combo. Quiet yet powerful, the juicer grinds fruits, vegetables, and berries at just 1800 rpm, so juice foams less and keeps all of its nutrients. The stainless-steel extractor basket has a strong construction, a sharp cutting surface, and fine holes, so juice flows through, but fibers and pulp stay behind. Constructed with a hinged lid that doubles as the fruit pusher, the press contains two juicing domes that nest together for compact storage. KitchenAid's metal spout has a tapered edge for minimal splashing, while the power switch is easy to turn on or off, even with a wet hand. The unit's motor base is heavy-duty without unnecessary bulk, and its rubberized feet resist slipping and scooting. For handy storage, the power cord wraps underneath the machine. An included spatula simplifies the cleaning process, and all removable parts--bowl, basket, press, cones, and lid--are dishwasher-safe. --Emily Bedard

Summary: Non-metal Citrus Press 2007-11-29
Comment: We purchased this machine specifically for the citrus press feature. We wanted a powerful non-metallic citrus press that would stand up to heavy use.
We didn't want a metal press that could in any way taint the flavor of the juice.
We have never used this machine as a "juicer." We also own a VitaMix that we use regularly and another brand of juicer that we use for juice extraction.
As a citrus press this machine has exceeded our expectations. The fruit is finished pressing before the juice has finished draining out of the machine. It is FAST and powerful. It will press juice as fast as we can place a half of a lemon, lime or orange in the machine and pull down the lid. SECONDS! The machine is large enough to accomodate grapefruit, although our primary use is for lemons and limes.
The press attachments clean easily.
Since this model has been discontinued by Kitchenaid, we've been considering buying another one to keep in reserve in case this one ever goes belly up.

Summary: We love it!! 2006-09-09
Comment: This is our first juicer and we are have a great time juicing everything. We use it a lot with our smoothie maker.
It is designed well and is very easy to clean. It does drip a bit for a while from the spout but that isn't a problem at all.
We got this because we have a 2 year old and a 16 year old. We wanted to make it easy to give them great tasting sweets that are good for them. My 16 year old son loves apple juice and makes it all the time now-- no more soda in our house!!

Summary: Carrots are not a problem either, the pulp makes fantastic carrot bread. 2006-02-23
Comment: Clean up is messy no matter which machine you buy: I found that if I turn the basket upside down to soak in water for awhile, it helps make for easier clean up. I also saved the cylindrical piece of foam packing that fits over the spindle, and hold that tightly in place when I rinse water thru the machine. The piece of foam keeps excessive water from flowing into the motor housing and allows quick-easy clean up. KitchenAide does make excellent, durable products; quiet and dependable. The only thing that would make this perfect for the gallon juicers would be a pulp extractor port, otherwise for someone like me who just makes a quart of juice at a time, this is not a problem. The pulp that is left behind is moist, not juicy, and to my understanding the only way to get dry pulp is to purchase a very expensive masticating juicer.

Summary: Excellent juicer 2006-02-17
Comment: Powerful motor & quiet and it doesn't shake as other viewer said. It extracts almost everything out. For clean up, it's not a smart design part yet. It should be removable the top part out for clean instead of use damp clothes. You can't find other juicer at price $120.00 good as this one.

Summary: New to Juicing 2006-02-10
Comment: I've had this juicer for about 2 months now. The spigot is not solid in the back and when the juice flow slows down, it has a tendency to leak out the back and out onto the counter between the upper chamber and lower motor sections. At this point, I'm taping the back of my spigot so it appears to be solid to stop all my juice from ending up on the counter.
While making 1 or 2 drinks at a time is easy without having to stop too often to clean the basket, it is very cumbersome when you are trying to get all your juice lined up for a day at the office.
If you're like me and need to stock up for the day and don't have all morning to clean a fiber basket, you may want to consider a different juicer. I intent to keep this one until it burns out and then replace it with a better model. However, if you're only going to juice 1 or 2 glasses at a time, this juicer works well and is easy to operate and clean.
Oh yeah, the Citrus press works like a champ. Although I have a tendency to throw my lemons and limes in with the other vegetables and only use the citrus press for Oranges and Grapefruits.
