This review is from: Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press, Black (Kitchen) Customer Video Review Length:: 6:58 Mins[UPDATE #1] I've made a video review of this for those of you who are more visually oriented. Enjoy! It complements my written review. You should read the review AND watch the video to get the most out of it. **A few times I said "rind," when what I meant was "pulp." [UPDATE #2] The hex sockets that connect the handle to the machine core is ridiculously poor quality. It started coming loose (no big deal), so I got two hex tools (one on each side) to tighten it. The hex sockets' threads started getting destroyed. I don't know how long the machine will last before the handle comes off. I've downgraded the star rating from 4 to 2. I love the machine's design & use, but I hate the trash quality of something so essential that holds the machine together. Made in China indeed! STAY AWAY! --------------- The only juicer I've ever used is grinding citrus fruits by hand against one of those cones. The last time I went through two...Read more 17 of 19 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press, Black (Kitchen) I own a medium sized Ra Chand juicer, the popular model J210. Although the fit and finish of the Ra Chand juicer is somewhat crude, it makes up for it in brute strength and straightforward design. It works excellent for limes, lemons, and small to medium sized oranges and it will last a lifetime, even with daily use. The problem with the J210 is that it does not juice large oranges and grapefruits very well. I needed a larger juicer because I have a grapefruit tree and an orange tree that produce larger than average fruit. I decided against the Ra Chand J500 because they were more expensive than the OrangeX juicer, and the reviews of the OrangeX juicer were for the most part favorable--most of the complaints were for paint chips (doesn't appear to be a problem here) and slow delivery (also not a problem). I was disappointed when my OrangeX large commercial juicer arrived because the top cone and lower "bowl" assembly of the juicer, where the fruit fits, is no larger than the Ra Chand...Read more 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press, Black (Kitchen) As a manual juice press this machine has several advantages:
- juices reliably - easier to clean - less to break, will probably last forever But as I found out, it cannot compare to a powered reamer in juice output. I just did a side-by-side test with this and the Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless-Steel Motorized Citrus Press and the Breville got more juice out of the orange and nearly twice the juice from a red grapefruit. The reason is that while this juicer simply applies downward force, the reamer in the Breville squeezes out little bits as it rotates. With the Olympus you also get some bitter taste from the peel because the force here is much greater. I realize that the Breville I used is not commercial grade but they make a commercial variant which I will be buying...Read more |
