Product Review
Product Description

The Omega Model 8005 Nutrition Center is Omega's new single gear, masticating juice extractor that will serve all of your juicing needs and much more. This unit is a "multiple use" appliance that actually does all of its uses very well. Most appliances that are built for more than one use tend to compromise one task or another. But the Omega Model 8005 Nutrition Center excels at all of its functions.

The Model 8005 does all these tasks with no extra cost attachments: citrus and vegetable juicer, wheat grass juicer, pasta extruder, mincing, grinding (coffee), soy milk, nut butters, frozen desserts and snacks

Now that's value!

Omega's single gear machine turns at a low 80 RPMs to ensure that nothing is lost through heated elements in your juice. This low speed also helps the Omega 8005 foam less than a double gear style juicer.

Summary: An appliance you can live with 2010-08-22
Comment: A well-made, heavy duty machine, the Omega can get the job done day after day with little fuss. Perhaps the most important feature of a juicer is the ability to be cleaned easily. If it's a hassle to clean it, you're not going to use it. The Omega excels in the clean-up department. It breaks down quickly and easily, and with the assistance of the included cleaning brush, the entire processing end of the machine will be drying in your dish rack in less than two minutes. "Masticating juicer" is an appropriate description of this quiet-running machine. In operation it sounds like a large animal munching fodder. But you never get the impression the motor is straining to do the job. The most time consuming part of a juicing job is the vegetable/fruit prep, the cleaning, peeling, and sizing required to get the food ready to feed into the little beast. Here one might criticize the 1 1/2 inch diameter feeding tube, but in reality, the size of the vegetable you can cram effectively into the machine without slowing and straining the motor is determined by the available power. Anything you can cram down the Omega's feed hole will likely be pulverized with no complaints from the machine. Typically, it requires about thirty minutes for me to process a couple of eight ounce glasses of veggie juice, consisting of a mix of carrots, celery, tomatoes, beets, parsley, cucumber, kale, and cabbage, plus cleaning the machine. This is a "full-house" mix of course, and fewer fruits or veggies require proportionately less time. I have done only a little fruit juice, but what I have done has been just as easy and effective as processing veggies. An outstanding machine - You can't go wrong with the Omega. I recommend spending a little extra to get the chromed version. It won't stain and cleans up with a swipe.

Summary: Omega juicer is great 2009-06-20
Comment: This is my first juicer and it is great. It is sturdy, powerful, and works as described. It's easy to use and wash. I struggled with the price but it's worth every penny. I highly recommend this juicer.

Summary: I love the Omega 8005 2009-03-06
Comment: I have had my Omega juicer for almost 6 months now. I juice everyday and have tried 2 other juicers before this one. I love it. It's easy to clean up and has a blank plate that we use for making 'ice cream' by running frozen fruit through it. Even the kids use it! Happy happy with it.

Summary: A Great Little Juicer! 2009-02-04
Comment: This is my second juicer. My first was the centrifical type. The one is just soooo superior to the previous one. The unit has a solid, but not TOO heavy weight, and it does not take up a tremendous amount of counter space either. The parts are not that complicated after reading the manual and spending about 5 min. figuring it out. The parts are heavy-duty plastic -- not flimsy at all. The clean up is very fast as well, I think, compared to my old juicer.

You do have to cut some of the fruits and vegetables into chunks or slices to fit into the feeder; however, they feed very well, it only takes a few extra moments to cut them up, and the consistency is quite good, the pulp is very dry, and I only had to strain the juice with the supplied hand strainer for my daughter as I liked it just the way it comes out, myself. I made carrot bread one day with the pulp as well.

I puried a soft tomato that I normally would have had to throw out for tomato sauce in a recipe' with the blank insert that also comes with instead of the juicer insert, and I made a frozen banana blueberry desert that was very good! I found out that it will also chop up veggies for soups or salsa, and also has inserts that will extrude pasta. I'm excited to try that soon as well!

Summary: A Great Juicer 2009-02-02
Comment: Bought this as a replacement to my Juicman juicer (now ancient).

I've been very happy with the Omega. It stays out on my counter as a permanent fixture in the kitchen now as a constant reminder to use it each day. Here are some things to keep in mind when considering this vs. other juicers:

1) Masticating juicers are not meant for casual juicers. If you are going to juice only carrots on the weekend, this is not the juicer for you. You'll spend more and be satisfied with a <$100 centrifugal juicer.

2) Cleanup is a breeze. It's actually easier than my old Juiceman.

3) Be prepared to cut things down to size. The chute is small so even carrots sometimes need te be cut up.

Overall, juicing takes about 5x longer with a masticating juicer. The benefits are: better juice, more juice, a quiet machine and the ability to juice greens.
